PLANNED GIVING DONATIONS
Planned Giving Donations can take many forms: a cash contribution, stock, bonds, real estate property, insurance proceeds, and more. The manner in which the donations are made can be structured in various ways to meet your needs for now and desired use later. If you wish, your donation will be used for the specific purposes you instruct us to follow, including OBHS’s Education Grant Program, or you can instruct OBHS to put your donation to work in OBHS’ 1765 Plan to support one of several pre-defined purposes that you select or your proposed purpose that
the Board of Directors agree with.
THE 1765 PLAN
Named after the year that Bristol was incorporated, and intended to support projects and programs that help OBHS support Bristol’s growth. The donations made to the 1765 Plan can be directed to one of several Board-defined programs that fund OBHS’s mission statement or project proposed by the donor, reviewed by the Development Committee, and approved by the Board of Directors.
The 1765 Plan program examples are:
-
Compensation for a part-time Volunteer Coordinator
-
A professional-level projection/audio system
-
Appropriate cooking equipment to teach and prepare foods of the 1700s and 1800s
-
Funds to engage subject-matter experts to share their knowledge about important aspects of old Bristol by personal appearance(s) in Bristol or remote AV presentations
EDUCATION GRANTS PROGRAM
At the Old Bristol Historical Society, we are dedicated to preserving the rich history of our community while inspiring the next generation. Each year, we proudly invite graduating high school seniors to apply for our grant, designed specifically to support them in pursuing further education. We understand that the journey ahead can be filled with challenges, and our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with their academic endeavors. We believe in the potential of our youth and are here to help them turn their aspirations into reality by pursuing one of the following.
-
A licensed certificate earned at a registered technical training institution.
-
A medical license received from a licensed medical occupation training facility.
-
A diploma from a registered four-year college or university.
